What is AFCAT?

AFCAT is a nationwide entrance exam managed and conducted by the IAF twice a year to induct officers into one of its branches.

What are the different branches under AFCAT?

AFCAT is conducted to enlist candidates in its three branches,

When is the AFCAT advertisement released & exam conducted?

AFCAT is held twice a year in February and August, with advertisements published in December and June respectively on the official website of the Indian Air Force (IAF) & AFCAT.

How can I apply for AFCAT?

The applicant can register online for AFCAT official website. Simply go to the “candidate login” page and register as an applicant. Fill out the AFCAT application form with accurate information and attach the required documents. Candidates must ensure that all information provided is correct and that they meet the eligibility requirements.

What is the selection process for the AFCAT exam?

The AFCAT selection process consists of a written exam followed by interview with the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) for those who pass the written exam.

The Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test, psychological tests, group tests, personal interviews, and the CPSS test for prospective pilots are all part of the AFSB interview. 

After clearing the AFSB tests, the candidate has to undergo medicals at a designated medical establishment.  An All India Merit List is compiled based on the results of all three tests. 

AFCAT is only one of the entry modes of getting into IAF. Applicants can apply through three other entries – NDA (National Defence Academy), CDSE (Combined Defence Services Exam) and NCC (National Cadet Corps) Special Entry.
